About Vilofoss →
The production challenge
Poultry are motivated to forage and peck. When a flock has nothing appropriate to direct that behaviour at, it tends to find something else, and damaging pecking is usually the result of several things at once — lighting, stocking density, litter condition, diet, ventilation and stress among them.
Where PECKStone fits in a flock-welfare program
Enrichment is planned into a shed before damage appears, so birds have somewhere to direct their pecking from the start. No enrichment product prevents damaging feather pecking on its own — where it is already underway, the underlying causes need to be identified with a poultry adviser or veterinarian.

Frequently asked
What people ask us about PECKStone.
What is PECKStone?
A mineral block placed in poultry housing to give birds an appropriate material to peck at. Vilofoss describes it as a mineral block in feed quality, developed to promote the natural behaviour of poultry.
Will it stop feather pecking?
No single enrichment product can prevent damaging feather pecking on its own. Lighting, stocking density, litter, nutrition, ventilation and stress can all contribute. PECKStone provides an appropriate pecking material as one part of a broader flock-welfare program.
Which grades are available in Australia?
Vilofoss produces PECKStone in different hardness grades. Ask us which grades we currently supply in Australia and which suits your flock and system.
How many blocks does a shed need?
