The production challenge
A mixed ration starts to change the moment it is dispensed. Warmth, moisture and oxygen create the conditions for yeasts and moulds, and the ration can heat in the bunk before anyone notices it. The usual signs are a warm face on the feed, a sour or alcoholic smell, and stock sorting or backing off it.
Where FreshFoss fits in feed management
FreshFoss is applied through the conditions where heating is most likely — warm weather and high-moisture mixes — rather than after a mix has already gone off. It works with the bunk and mixing controls that come first: feed-out rate, face management and a clean mixer.

Frequently asked
What people ask us about FreshFoss.
What does FreshFoss do?
Vilofoss describes it as reducing heat build-up in a feed ration after it has been dispensed, particularly where water is mixed into the ration and during warm periods.
When would it be used?
Through the conditions where ration heating is most likely — warm weather and high-moisture mixes — as part of feed management, rather than as a response after a mix has spoiled.
What rate is it applied at?
The application rate is set by the current Australian product documentation. Tell us your ration and conditions and we will send what applies.
Does it replace good bunk management?
No. Feed-out rate, face management, mixer hygiene and mixing practice all affect how a ration behaves. FreshFoss is used alongside them.
Products must be used in accordance with current Australian labels, directions and product documentation. Information on this website is general and does not replace veterinary, nutrition or other professional advice appropriate to an individual operation.
